About the job

The British Council builds connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and other countries through arts and culture, education and the English language.

With governments and partners, we can make a bigger impact over a longer period of time and assist millions of people worldwide. We also engage directly with people to alter their lives. We assist young people in acquiring the knowledge, self-assurance, and connections they need to realise their potential and take part in vibrant, welcoming communities. We help them learn English, receive a top-notch education, and achieve credentials that are recognised globally. Our efforts in the arts and culture foster creative enterprise while also encouraging creative expression and interchange. We foster connections between the best in the UK and the rest of the world.

These relationships help us recognise each other's assets and our shared ideals and challenges. This fosters confidence between citizens of the UK and other countries, which continues despite poor official ties. In more than 100 nations, we have local operations. In 2019–20, we reached 791 million people overall and 80 million directly, including through internet channels, broadcasts, and publications.
